El Blanco Segundo (EBS) was started in 2000 and completed in the first month of 2001. Due to it's importance it was assigned the collector number 01 of 2001. The collector number and year are engraved into the Ivory joint and the Ivory insert in the bottom of the cue. (* This insert can be removed and the steel butt screw can be replaced with an aluminum butt screw, thereby making the playing weight of the cue 19 ounces, and the ivory insert can be replaced with a rubber bumper.)

EBS is only the second cue that Richard Black has made composed of all Ivory. The first was El Blanco Grande made in 1993 and sold a few years later to a foreign collector. It is rumored that "Grande" resold a few years after it was acquired for six times its' original purchase price.

Like it's predecessor, EBS is comprised of an all Ivory butt section that is heavily inlaid with Mother of Pearl, Abalone, Sterling Silver and then a generous amount of hand engraving into the Ivory.

There are five deco rings in the cue comprised of Ivory, Silver and Abalone. Thirty-six inlays were required for each ring. The hand engraving required three weeks of concentrated effort and the entire cue was in construction for over six months.

Each Maple shaft (with Ivory Ferrule) is inlaid with a deco ring at the collar area and then four long, hand engraved Ivory inlaid points and four shorter inlaid Mother of Pearl points.

Custom Ivory cap protectors are provided for the butt and both shafts. The butt cap protector is inlaid with Abalone in an octagonal pattern and the shaft caps are hand engraved as well as having Ivory threads.

The presentation case is made of Mahogany (stained dark brown) and inlaid with close to 500 pieces of Ivory, Abalone, Mother of Pearl and Sterling Silver.
