2010 Events... |
January 22, 2010 - Richard attended a Black Tie and Billiards fundraiser at the Grace Museum 100th Anniversary celebration in Abilene, Texas. He displayed about 12-15 cues for the patrons attending the gala and giving a presentation on design and construction of custom cues.
October 2010 - In late October he attended the International Cue Collectors event in Sarasota, Florida. For this outing he created about a half dozen new and exciting pieces.

2006 - 2005 Events... |
March 16 and 17, 2006 - Richard looks forward
to seeing old friends and new ones at the Allen Hopkins Billiard Expo,
Valley Forge, PA. He will not be displaying but will be walking around
visiting and maybe helping friend Bill Grassley at Cornerstone Billiards.
April 8, 2006 - Richard will be hosting the
first real Annual Meeting of the Academy of American Cue Art (www.cueacademy.org)
at his home and workshop. This meeting is being held in Houston to
coincide with the BCA trade Show Apr. 6 - 8. Food and beverages will
be served starting at 5:00 p.m. The event will be free to Academy
members; there will be a small per head fee to all guests. The general
meeting will begin at 8:00 p.m. You are encouraged to come join the
festivities and meeting to learn more about the Academy and its mission.

- June 2, 2005 - Richard Black Custom Cues was showcased in a solo exhibition in the main gallery of the
Art Museum of South East Texas
in Beaumont, Texas.

November 5 - December 29, 2003 - Richard and five other cuemakers
exhibited some of their creations at the Muckenthaler Museum in Fullerton,
CA.
May
1 - 3, 2003 - Richard exhibited his latest and greatest at the
Derby Village. This was a new event being held in conjunction
with the Kentucky Derby and Richard was invited to show his cues
to the 500 millionaires, royalty, celebrities and the equestrian community -
not to mention the local folks. He exhibited about 30 pieces ranging
from a low of $1200 and going over $100,000.
March 21 - 23, 2003 - Richard was at the Allen Hopkins Super Billiards Expo in Valley
Forge, PA. Thanks to all the old and new friends that stopped by to
chat and see the new cues.
September 26 - 28, 2002 - Richard exhibited some unbelievable cues at the International Cue
Collectors Show in Ruidoso, New Mexico. But rumor has it he really
went to play golf in the cuemaker/collector golf tournament.
Richard made an appearance at the LA Billiard Expo in Burbank, CA on October 23-27, 2001.
This November, Richard displayed his cues at the Japan $1 Million Tourney and Cue Show.

In the Big Apple...

The one night showing at the NYAC was sponsored by Blatt Billiards, the NYAC Billiards Committee, and the Academy of American Cue Art. The beneficiary of the 1999 Gallery event was Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
And The Silver Medal Goes To...
It's a tough job, but someone has to do it..
And on to Valley Forge...

In February, Richard participated in the 1999 Gallery of American Cue Art Gala held in New York City at the prestigious New York Athletic Club. Richard's creation Athena won the "Silver Medal."

Five cues ranging from $4,200 to $28,500 were exhibited along with the works of fourteen other talented artists. The show was attended by hundreds of guests including TV and movie celebrities, corporate executives, art aficionados, and major cue collectors from all around the globe.
He also joined in a two week display at the National Arts Club.

And what do we have here? Richard told me that it was rough at the Gala. Is this his idea of rough???
